The National Heads of Counselling and Psychotherapy Education
Purpose
The National Heads of Counselling and Psychotherapy Education (NHCPE) is a network of Heads of Counselling Departments within Higher Education Institutions, both public and private. The network is made up of a wide representation of senior academics from across Australia. The NHCPE is an independent network whose aim is to support the development of counselling and psychotherapy Higher Education programs within Australia and to offer advice as an expert panel to professional associations and to government.
The NHCPE meets online bi-monthly (Fridays 11am via Zoom) and face-to-face annually. These meetings provide Heads an opportunity to discuss matters of relevance to the provision of quality counselling and psychotherapy education, with an overall aim of contributing positively to the counselling profession in Australia.

Participant Institutions
Universities, Colleges and Institutes of Higher Education which offer programs in counselling and psychotherapy are welcome to join the NHCPE. Institutions may appoint one staff member as their representative, usually a Head of Department or Program Leader. Institutions which offer counselling and psychotherapy programs on multiple campuses are able to appoint additional representatives. If your institution is not on our mailing list please contact the Chair - Margaret Welch.
