Nathan Beel (MCoun, PhD) represents the Australian Counselling and Psychotherapy Academics network on the NHCPE steering committee. He is currently the Counselling Discipline Lead and Program Directer of Counselling at the University of Southern Queensland, and is a sessional educator with ACAP University, and maintains a private practice.
Dr Beel was instrumental in re-starting the NHCPE and Chairing from 2019-2021. He was previously Associate Professor and Counselling Discipline Lead (Brisbane/Online) at the then Australian College of Applied professions. He is a Clinical Member and Clinical Supervisor of PACFA and has maintained counselling practice for 25 years. He was formerly a Client Services and Counselling Manager in Lifeline Fraser Coast, overseeing the general counselling program, financial counselling, and Gambling Help service. Prior to this, he was the Counsellor Coordinator for SalvoCareLine, a 24hr crisis helpline, and a Drug and Alcohol Counsellor in the Brisbane Rehabilitation Services Centre 'Moonyah'. He has published on counsellor education, common factors of successful therapy, feedback informed therapy, telephone counselling, internet counselling, domestic violence, and male-friendly counselling.
