About Dr Nathan Beel

Dr Nathan Beel (BA, Grad Dip Coun, MCoun, PhD) has stepped back from counselling education leadership but maintains his contributions to the NHCPE, and sessional work in counsellor education (USQ, ACAP) and private practice. He is currently an honoury member of the Steering Committee. Dr Beel was instrumental in re-starting the NHCPE and Chairing from 2019-2021. He was previously Associate Professor and Counselling Discipline Lead (Brisbane/Online) at the Australian College of Applied professions and the Counselling Discipline Lead at the University of Southern Queensland. He is a Clinical Member and Clinical Supervisor of PACFA and has maintained counselling practice for 21 years. He was formerly a Client Services and Counselling Manager in Lifeline Fraser Coast, overseeing the general counselling program, financial counselling, and Gambling Help service. Prior to this, he was the Counsellor Coordinator for SalvoCareLine, a 24hr crisis helpline, and a Drug and Alcohol Counsellor in the Brisbane Rehabilitation Services Centre 'Moonyah'. He has published on counsellor education, common factors of successful therapy, feedback informed therapy, telephone counselling, internet counselling, domestic violence, and male-friendly counselling.
