Counselling Research Community of Practice
This CoP is independent from institutions and associations, and is made up of counselling researchers, academics, practitioners, and students. Its aim is to support the development of counselling research in Australia.
This group meets bi-monthly, via zoom, on a Thursday evening and has an open agenda, with topics of discussion arising from current members needs and interest areas.
To be added to the CoP, please email the current chair on KAndrews1@usc.edu.au

“I joined the Counselling Research Community of Practice as I was completing my Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy and I was interested in understanding the pathway to a PhD. As someone who knew nothing about this area before joining the group, I was amazed at how welcoming everyone was and the different levels of experience in the group. I was so grateful for the patience shown by everyone with my very basic questions about starting the PhD journey. As it turns out, other members had similar questions and they were grateful someone else asked. This group has helped me understand more about why a PhD would be of benefit to my career, my personal growth as a counsellor/psychotherapist, the steps involved in applying for one, and a high-level understanding of the PhD process. Their website contained all the information I needed to understand the basics and is of benefit to people of any level of academic study. The most important thing to me was finding like-minded people to network with and encourage me on my journey.”
